Vehicle Description
This RHD 1928 Renault Type NN is fitted with the original four-door tourer body which could be converted to a utility pickup by the simple expedient of removing the rear seats and unclipping the tailgate at the rear to reveal a large timberland load area so the French farmer could take his produce to market during the week and take his family to church on Sundays.
This Renault was used in the 1988 Indiana Jones film ‘The Last Crusade’ starring Harrison Ford and Sean Connery. Painted black it featured in the chase across the desert (filmed in Almeria, Spain) which ended with the fight scene on the back of a tank.
Directly after filming the Renault returned to the UK and was subject to a complete rebuild which included repainting the car Yellow and a full interior re-trim with the fine results you see today. It was then put on display in the History on Wheels museum in Windsor for the next 25 years until 2014.
The engine has been fully rebuilt with an invoice on file detailing the extent of the work carried out, The dynostart was also rebuilt shortly afterwards. In wonderful condition throughout, it comes with a V5C, an old style V5, French registration papers, sundry invoices and restoration photos plus some publicity material from the Indiana Jones film and a recent newspaper article about the car.
